May Wrap-Up// June TBR

Hello everyone- how are we all?

How is it June?! I always see June as the start of summer, but I don’t know if I’m ready for that! I mean, that’s the first half of 2018 done, right?

I can’t believe it, and I don’t really think I have much to show for this year so far 😛 I’ve mainly been working and doing Zumba classes so I don’t really have too much to report for  this month, so let’s just get stuck in to May’s Wrap-Up! ❤

Books I Read

In my May TBR I wanted to finish Iron Gold by Pierce Brown (hahhaha fat chance) and Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. I also gave myself a decent size TBR pile, including The Wrath & The Dawn, The Raven Boys, Scythe, Invasion of the Tearling and Spellslinger. I definitely didn’t smash the TBR, but I made a good attempt! This May I read:

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi~ Review TBC

After buying this earlier this year I finally dove into one of my most anticipated releases. I’ll admit I had high expectations, but all in all this was a really fun read! There was a lot of excitement and really good pacing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the strengths of the female characters too. Review to come at some point

The Wrath & The Dawn by Renée Ahdieh~
Review TBC

Oh my gosh, I fell in love with this book waaay more than I was expecting to. I was hooked on every word and loved the blossoming relationship. The emotions really worked, and as soon as I finished I just had to rush out and buy book 2. Review to come! ❤

Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell~
Review TBC

This was a book I already loved before reading, mainly because I like de Castell’s other work and this cover is gorgeous. And Spellslinger did NOT disappoint! 🙂 I really enjoyed the story, I loved Kellen (he’s a clever idiot) and I really liked the dashings of humour and sarcasm throughout. Definitely my kind of read, can’t wait to start book 2! Review to follow~

I am still making my way through Iron Gold by Pierce Brown! I can only read it when I get home from work though, and I’m usually sleepy after one chapter! But I’m about a third of the way through now, so I’m still making progress 🙂

I can’t say I read too many books in May, but the ones I did read were super good. I’m very happy with my choices, it definitely felt like a good reading month and I cant wait to get stuck into the sequels!

I’m a bit disappointed with the amount of blog posts this month, I feel like I’ve been a bit absent! Unfortunately work has been super busy, plus this month I’ve been going to Zumba twice a week in the evenings, so I really haven’t had much time for blogging 😦 I do have a couple of posts half drafted though, so I’m hoping June can be a bit more productive!

June TBR

I have to admit, it was kinda tough to pick a TBR for June, as after some cracking reads in May I’m just not feeling anything in particular? I do have an ARC of The Gilded King by Josie Jaffrey coming my way which is super exciting, but other than that I don’t have a major preference. I have cobbled some ideas together, so this June it would be great if I could read:

june TBR

  1. A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews~ This is PaperFury’s debut novel! I was lucky to find a colleague’s old ARC in my office so I nabbed it as quick as I could. It is being publishing in June so now is as good a time as any to give it a go 🙂
  2. The Rose & The Dagger by Renée Ahdieh~ Yesss, the sequel to The Wrath & The Dawn. ❤ Cannot wait to start this and see what is going to happen with Shazi and Khalid!!!
  3. Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy~ June/summer is a good time for contemporary, right? If I feel in the mood I’d love to give this one a try, I do have a soft spot for books about weight or with fat MCs!
  4. Invictus by Ryan Graudin~ Okay, adding a bit of sci-fi to the mix to give me enough variety to choose from! I really liked the sound of this when it came out, so hopefully this one will immerse me into the sci-fi world.

I may also decide to read some ebooks, depending on what takes me fancy (I have a fair few on there now, I must admit). Basically I’m going to take it easy and go with whatever I’m feeling in the mood for at the time. Hopefully it works!

And there we go, May is all wrapped-up! It was both a good and bad month for me as far as bookish blogging goes, but I’m still pretty happy with myself. Here’s hoping June is a productive one! 🙂

How was your month? Did you meet any of your goals? Let me know in the comments! ♥
